Dialysis Technician

Job Purpose / Objective: Assume the responsibility and accountability for hemodialysis patients using the nursing process, in coordination with other healthcare team/members to uphold and maintain a high standard of nursing care in this department, as required and prescribed Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities: • Maintain machine and equipment in conformance with manufacturer guideline and coordinate with the concerned Biomed for regular check or urgent need with appropriate documentation • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies. Ensure necessary documentation, i.e., purchase order and slip submitted to appropriate individual in a timely manner. • Collect necessary water sample per AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrument) Standards, review and interprets result notifying department head or designee of problematic result. • Ensure that water treatment system component is in proper operating condition. • Control and distribute all supplies in the unit. Keeping an inventory at appropriate level, i.e., dialyzer, bloodlines, AVF needle, dialysate, bibags and etc. • Participate in the evaluation of new equipment. • Maintain open verbal and written communication with all staff in matter if technical nature. • Support and promote excellence in patient/ family relations. • Telephone etiquette • Respond to all inquiries promptly and courteous • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement of the unit. • Maintain and clean orderly work area. • Participate in periodic inventory count and accurately record and maintain all required logbook. • Troubleshoot mechanical problems with machines and equipment. • Prepare machine set-up dialyzer, assembles extracorporeal circuits and prepare dialysate according to protocol and dialysis prescription. • Test and set machine function, including alarms, conductivity and temperatures according to unit and manufacturer protocol. • Discard dialysis supplies and sanitizer/ disinfect equipment after procedure staff Nurse to transport patients to the designated unit or to the lobby of the hospital after treatment. • Help Staff Nurse to transport patient to the designated unit or to the lobby of the hospital after treatment. • Pickup errand such as supplies from stockroom, pharmacy and bring down specimen to laboratory • Maintain professional conduct, good communication skills and confidentiality in the care of patient • Adhere to all existing Infection Control Policies and at all times adhere to Internal Safety Precaution. • Provides individualized patient / family education as per their needs. • Support in organizing supplies in the unit. • Adhere to dress code policy. • Perform procedure within the infection control standards. • Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG. • Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity. • Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned with the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities. Education/ Professional Qualification: • Certificate, preferably diploma or equivalent • Nursing or Nursing Assistant or Dialysis Technician Experience: • Two (2) years relevant experience, preferably working experience of tertiary hospital Dialysis
