Multisport Medical Doctor

Al Qadsiah is seeking an experienced Medical Doctor to join its Performance Support team and play an important role within the Club’s ambitious multi-sport programme. This is an exciting opportunity to work across five targeted sports, providing sports medicine support to athletes and coaches within Al Qadsiah’s Olympic Champion programme (2028 focus) and Futures Sports programme (2032 focus). The Medical Doctor will help ensure the alignment of best practice across the Club’s targeted sports, while bringing an innovative, evidence-based approach to athlete health, wellbeing and performance. Key Responsibilities • Implement performance medicine strategies focused on athlete education, proactive athlete self-management and rapid response protocols for serious injury or illness. • Lead on the planning and management of medical services for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of injuries and illnesses, helping athletes maximise performance at major competitions. • Ensure programme athletes receive the highest standards of injury and illness prevention support and medical care. • Work closely with coaches and other key performance support staff to minimise injury risk and maximise competitive performance through an individualised, performance-focused approach to sports medicine and athlete wellbeing. • Act as Team Doctor at agreed Al Qadsiah events and competitions. • Maintain the highest standards of evidence-based practice while remaining innovative and creative in achieving the best possible outcomes for athletes and their performance objectives. • Ensure compliance with the Club’s anti-doping policies, procedures and education strategies across the multi-sport programme. Knowledge & Experience We are looking for an experienced sports medicine professional with a strong background in elite and high-performance environments. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: • Extensive experience providing medical services to elite athletes and coaches. • A strong track record of working within multidisciplinary teams in the delivery of medical services within high-performance sport. • Experience developing and implementing education programmes that support world-class standards of medical provision. • The ability to appropriately modify training and rehabilitation programmes according to clinical need, working collaboratively with coaches and other support staff. • Advanced competency in clinical examination, functional assessment and the medical management of sports injury and illness. • The ability to scientifically evaluate test results, including musculoskeletal imaging, scientific data and relevant sports medicine and sports science literature. • Experience in effective clinical interventions, including injection techniques and allied therapies. • Experience travelling with teams to major international competitions at senior level, such as the Olympic or Paralympic Games, World or Continental Championships, or Commonwealth Games. • Detailed MSK ultrasound knowledge and experience in radiological image interpretation. • A full understanding, knowledge and direct experience of anti-doping. • An understanding of the cost-benefit analysis associated with medical services. Education & Qualifications Candidates should have: • Higher specialist training recognised by the GMC (or equivalent) in either Sport & Exercise Medicine or Rheumatology & Rehabilitation, or be within six months of Specialist registration. • A postgraduate qualification in Sports (and Exercise) Medicine at Diploma level, or equivalent, with verifiable clinical training in sports medicine.
